Valerie's Leaving Assembly
Today was a very significant day in the life of Magherafelt Primary School. Our Secretary of 21 years, Mrs Valerie Sloss is retiring and we had a special assembly to mark the Occassion.
Mr Somerville spelled out a word with help from some volunteers, but unfortunately all his letters got jumbled up and he ended up spelling the wrong words. They ended up with:
I LEAVER,
This didn't make a lot of sense. Fortunately, the boys and girls were able to work together to rearrange the letters to spell the correct word:
VALERIE
Mr Somerville used each letter to represent a word:
V - Valiant
A - Able
L - Loyal
E - Essential
R - Reliable
I - Ideas
E - Eagle-eyed
Everyone agreed that these were the perfect words to describe Valerie!
After this we played a video that all the classes had worked together to create about Valerie. You can watch this video below. It is quite long, but it is really worth watching.
Then we had a presentation of some flowers and a memories book made by all the children in the school to Valerie.
Valerie gave us some words of encouragement and reminded the children that Magherafelt Primary School is a very special school and that they were all awesome.
The assembly ended with everyone giving three cheers for Valerie (You can see this video below as well).
We will miss you Valerie. Happy retirement!
