After exploring Viking Longships in our theme of 'Raiders or Settlers', we were set a challenge to create a ship out of...tinfoil. Each team was given a 15cm by 15cm square of tinfoil and given the following success criteria. The 'ship' had to float on the water and take a load of 3 marbles without sinking. After testing we were able to evaluate which designs had worked well and why certain designs eventually sunk.
