We used a method called ’Crop and Chop’ to write poems about a river. The six stages we carried out were -
- Answer 5 questions about the river painting.
- Crop out the unnecessary words to leave 5 lines.
- In groups, identify the nouns and brainstorm adjectives for these.
- Select 2 adjectives for each noun and add them to your 5 lines.
- Add any verbs to enhance the poem.
- Chop the lines and change the order if necessary.
We really enjoyed writing these poems and held a poetry recital to show off our amazing work. Mrs Doherty even wrote one too….
