Dollaghan Trout
18th Mar 2020
For our Shared Education, P5 were looking after Dollaghan trout so we could release them into the Ballinderry river when they were big enough.
P5 were given 60 trout eggs (eyed ova). P5 were responsible for monitoring their growth and water temperature daily. We got to watch the eggs develop into Alevins and finally into fry.
On Friday 13th March, P5 took the fry to the Ballinderry river to meet with the Ballinderry River Trust to release the fry back into the river.
We had a wonderful time watching the trout grow over the past weeks and loved getting into the river to send them back home.
